MIUI Official ICS Changelog (2.1.13):
- Added Privacy mode
- Added support of clearing data in contact settings
- Improve the homescreen lag for the launcher
Merged into ICS build so far:
- Enhancements
- 4-Way Reboot MOD (thanks to roenano)
- Spare Parts MOD (including nowhere near as much as previously, for now)
- Mms user-agent and profile modified for better multimedia messaging
- System Mods
- Using ICS 4.0.3 CM9, b0.2.5 as a base (thanks to dk_zero-cool)
- Camera partially working (a bit unstable, panorama force closes) (thanks to rapmv78)
- Hardware Acceleration hack (thanks to rapmv78, rmcc)
- RAM Optimisation script (thanks to Juwe11)
- Security modified so that superuser and permissions management works properly
- Custom hosts file for blocking ad servers
- CM7 APN’s for better network connectivity
- LED & Flashlight permissions reverted for compatibility with more apps
- Custom installer script (See here for an explanation)
- Customisable A2SD script (options in “Control” > A2SD Settings). Note that your phone will reboot TWICE automatically after you change your settings, in order to fix permissions and avoid issues.
- Better GPS settings for Australian users.
- OTA updates (Thanks to XJ & MIUI.us)
- Automatically adjusts installation for any HBOOT (All HBOOT other than Stock, Sense, or Data++ cannot perform data wipe without reflashing rom due to system partition size limitations)
- Modified ramdisk to support native USB mounting as well as other small fixes
- Modified framework to support USB mounting, network connection, signal display, and various other minor fixes
- Torch from gingerbread build included
- FM Radio included but currently not functioning, will force close if you try
- Included Trackpad2Wake (thanks to samuaz)
- Applications
MIUI_Au Changelog (2.1.13):
- Fixed the signal strength display in system info and the status bar
- Camera now has video recording (thanks to rapvm78)
- FM Radio will be able to start and scan stations (picked up 3 for me), only if you turn bluetooth on before opening and have headphones plugged in. I couldn’t get it to output any sound, and some of the layouts and things are wrong due to being ported from the 2.3.7 framework, but it’s a start. Also force closes on volume key press, another symptom of porting I believe.
MIUI_Au Changelog (2.1.15 Update):
- OTA updates back (Thanks to XJ & MIUI.us) – Note 4Ext touch users need the latest beta from 4ext thread on xda or wait for the first RC. MIUI OTA is broken in previous versions.
- Hopefully fixed GTalk force closes
- Fixed 4-Way reboot
- Added in many user locales to help for non-Australian users.
- Replaced keyboard with one with less languages (can’t find English only, and this rom needs to be as light as possible. Contains German, English, Spanish, French, and Italian. People who need multi-lang can use the custom installer to replace with one containing your language.)
- Moved bootanimation and hosts to /data again
- Readded e2fsck check to A2SD script (mainly because mine had a few errors, and I forgot I left it out.)
- Now any time the rom is flashed, permissions will be fixed automatically, so expect 2 reboots each time. (Only for full rom)
- Added YouTube to the rom, until I find out why it’s not showing on the Market
- Replaced Gallery with one that MAY perform better (also may not, try it and let me know)
- Now Data++ and Sense HBOOT’s will function without sd-ext partition (only applies when flashing the next full rom update).
- Included modified DeskClock with stopwatch (Thanks to Andrew Neal)
MIUI_Au Changelog (2.1.20 WIP):
- Reverted to standard DeskClock as the mod caused a force close when trying to make a backup
- Added script to hopefully fix facebook contact sync
- Added telocation.db and yellowpage.db from official MIUI rom (although my contacts still say location unknown, even though at one stage I KNOW they said Australia. Edit: Just noticed if I type in +61…. when I try to dial, it says Australia, so I think the telocation and contact recognising are one and the same problem, will try to solve by Friday)
- Removed the Video Player and FM Radio. FM because it’s not working, and I’ll add it back in when it is. Video Player because after trying MX Video Player, for some reason now I prefer that to QQ Player. And MX fits the MIUI theme fine from market, so I won’t be using QQ Player anymore.
- Replaced QuickSearchBox with ICS version (I think it looks nicer)
- Hopefully Exchange E-Mail sync is fixed
- Do a FULL wipe before flashing if coming from any other rom (including MIUI_Au GB).
- Otherwise perform a cache and dalvik wipe.
- If you restore apps or data using Titanium or MIUI Backup, there may be problems due to changes from GB to ICS. If you do have any, restore apps one by one to find the culprit.
- Make sure you have an sd-ext partition setup as the second partition on your sd card. Only stock, sense and data++ hboot users will be able to install this and have it run properly without one.
- Please understand this is a very beta version, so expect errors.
- FM radio does NOT work, so please don’t bother trying, and definitely do not complain.
- Any errors, feel free to post but do not demand a solution.
- Flash at your own risk.
- If you experience any serious problems, we recommend you do a full wipe/factory reset then flash again.
Thank you MIUI-AU, my Desire never looked better. No FC yet, just the Gallery stops working some time. No biggie though. Very happy with my ICS !!!
)
Same here but I think the Gallery is a known ICS port issue.
I think I noticed this kind of behaviour: It works great when you simply open it and look through pictures but if you use it to select something from a third party app it just stays black. Maybe this helps somehow.
If I recall it right, Lennox will add an older Gallery 3D which could fix this issue
Thats correct. Every ICS port for the Desire has issues with the Gallery. So yes, I’ll be replacing it with Gallery3D for now, until a better solution is found.
I can use QuickPic for now, like I said, not such a big problem.
Theming seems to work well if you modify the Default theme, one element after the other. Basically apply Default and then change the Lockscreen, Font, Status Bar, etc…
I did that and it works with no FC or errors.
I have a2sd activated, ICS. Is it possible to activate data2ext once a2sd is already active?
Yes, you can change option whenever you want
@Lennox: Got it!
Just flashed and booted.
One word: WOW!
Hey Mr Strand, welcome to Au! Another convert…
Try data2ext… super smooth!
Glad you like it. As for data2ext, it SHOULD be smoother in tonight’s release due to patched libsqlite, but I’m still not 100% convinced. Time will tell.
What do you recommend using, A2SD or Data2ext for tonights new build??
I always would suggest a2sd. Its the most stable, and least error prone. That said, if data2ext works for you it gives you more space and in some cases better performance. Try and see what works for you. If there was a “best” option, I wouldn’t have had to make my own a2sd script and give people a GUI to choose what they want.
Following the dramatic failure of my SD card, I was left with no option than to full wipe and start from scratch. Bugger.
Clean 2.1.13 flash followed by the 2.1.15 update, and included the trebuchet launcher in the miui/au folder for auto installation, which worked a treat.
All’s good apart from I can’t find anywhere how to get into the launcher settings.
Press the menu button. This brings up a few items and one of them is Launcher Settings.
Yeah, that’s where it used to be but all that’s there is Wallpaper, Manage apps and System settings. Odd.
Hi guys.. coming from miui xj (data2ext), i wanna try -au, as its ics now
A few questions though (yes, have already searched and googled the best i can!)
Got a Desire PVT1, Sense HBOOT, RMD Recovery, 16GB Class 10 Kingston SD Card.
1. Can I/what will the consequences be if i use this sd card setup: Fat32 – ext (or btrfs) -ext (or btrfs) (i know that only 1 ext is recommended, but just curious – question is in regards to using data2ext version of the rom)
2. Any experience with btrfs and this rom? I’m thinking of giving it a go.. (said to be better than ext3/4…)
3. Do i need to add something to the “custom” file to make the rom run as data2ext, or how do i activate that? (I got a feeling this is a dumb question, but couldn’t find a straight answer here, sorry..)
4. Will a MIUI Backup (apps only) from 2.1.13 work in this rom?
Thanks for your time, looking forward to try it out!
1: You will have problems if the first ext partition isn’t big enough, as the A2SD script uses that for external storage. The 2nd external partition will be completely useless.
2: No, and it will work ONLY if the kernel supports mounting it with the -auto switch.
3: No, it’s an option under “Control”. And it’s not the same Data2Ext, it’s A2SD but moving more folders, so you internal storage still only shows the memory from the data partition.
4: Don’t know. GB backups can cause problems, but can work too. Only one way to find out.
Ok, thanks for fast reply!
Gonna try it after some repartitioning of my sdcard..
At #2,
Oh and uhm, pardon my ignorance here, but at #3, you say it’s an option under “control”. But i’m unsure what you mean exactly? Inside the rom after installation? ..
Yes, a2sd options are changeable on the fly and require just a reboot.
Control is my spare parts mod, its in the utilities folder of the stock launcher by default.
Why is superuser not working?
Has anyone applied an icon theme and if so did the phone icon change? If not were you able to theme it manually? Mine hasn’t changed on the desktop but looking at the apps and processes in quick system info the icon has changed.
Hi there lennox , thnx for the gr8 work !
I can’t enter password on my banks accounting app (garanti cep sifrematik) because keyboard doesn’t appear. There are some text boxes which i should enter some codes to verify myself but keyboard does not apper so i can’t use the app. Any ideas what causing the problem ?
Try long-Pressing the MENU hardware key – not sure if it works in ICS builds, but it used to work with GB.
Keyboard pops up with the optical center button but i can enter characters randolmly. phone seems to freeze. weird !
Portable Wi-Fi Hotspot not working. It enables and instantly disables.
Current rom has wi-fi issues I think. Tomorrow’s update should solve some of them hopefully.
Portable wifi is working however it is does do this on occasions, try to reboot your phone as this worked for me. I did have to reflash rom, but seems to be working fine now.
Hi Lennox
Fantastic ROM. Just downloaded and installed 2.1.13 with an update to 2.1.15. Don’t think I’ll go back to CM either, even when they release their ICS. I have found a problem though. I did read all the posts but unless I scrolled right past the answer, I don’t think I saw it.
My problem is the barcode scanner. It doesn’t matter which barcode scanner I try (ZXing or SimpleAct Inc) the camera is unable to focus on the QR Code and read it. Initially an error did flash on the screen but it went away so quickly that I was unable to read it.
There are also some translation issues where menu items are still in Chinese.
But apart from that, this ROM is looking fantastic. Thank you for all your hard work. Once it is working 100%, I will definitely make a donation.
Hear from you soon.
Barcode is due to camera. I’ll forgive you because it hasn’t been mentioned here, but there’s plenty of complaining over at xda so its a well known issue.
Won’t work until camera is fully working.
Where is the Chinese? Because I have not seen one single character. It could be because at the moment I’m not removing the Chinese strings, just fixing the default ones (and even then, not all of them).
Hey Lennox
I left my Desire at work. Tomorrow, I’ll try and find out where I saw the chinese. It was in Settings somewhere. I’ll update this post as soon as I find it.
Thanks for your explanation about the Camera/Barcode Reader. Since I like this ICS ROM so much, I am looking forward to tomorrow’s update.
Cheers
Hey Lennox
The main bit where everything was written in Chinese, I can’t seem to remember where it was. The minor one (and I mean minor) is when you use the Theme Selection utility. Every theme is names in Chinese.
I’ll keep looking for that major one and post again when I have found it.
Cheers and thanks for your input/replies to my questions.
That will never change. Themes are hosted online, and the themers choose the name, and most are chinese.. Been that way in every single miui release anywhere, ever.
BTW, come back to this page for the update or will that be done OTA ?
Unfortunately I think I’m going to have to do it via this page only tomorrow because of a few things changing, a full wipe will be recommended (read: required). Too many people won’t read the warning on the OTA.
Incidently, I’ve decided from now on all incremental mid-week updates will ONLY be available OTA, not posting them here. That will stop anyone from boot-looping because they don’t read or think things through and flash the update only after a full wipe.
hey lennox, just noticed the problem is with flash uplayer.anything flash-related not working even with the newest update, any ideas?
No sorry
Strange the bbc iplayer does not work now sees my phone as an iphone instead of an htc desire
Hey, awesome work with the ROM. However, I did find a bug (I’m using 2.1.15 updated from 2.1.13, which had the same problem): I can’t try the SMS notification tone because the Themes app FC’s when I select the option in Settings.
I’ve recorded the exact stack trace to http://pastebin.ca/2103777 . I hope this helps
Works fine here, and I have no idea why it wouldn’t for you.
i had this problem also (mentioned many posts ago) but i found as long as i don’t set a default app it works, problem is i cant seem to find a way of removing app associations except a clean install
Yeah, I’ve checked it now – the problem lies in “Themes” app. If I clear default settings for the Themes app, I get “choose app” window when attempting to change SMS notification tone and then select “Android System” it works.
However, if I select Themes app again it crashes as well. So the problem mostly lies in fact that for some reason on some phones Themes app is set as default handler for SMS notification tone changes but cannot handle them.
I didn’t have a problem until today. I noticed that my phone wasn’t making any notification sounds. When I checked settings each notification sound I had chosen had been replaced with a 5 digit number. I went to reset them and can’t find any of my notification or ringtones from my ad card that I had previously used. Going into music and I I can’t see any of my mp3 files. The only music it foes show is what is in the miui folder. Ive fixed the missing notification and ringtones by moving everything into the ringtone folder inside miui folder. I still can’t access any of my music stored on the sd card through music though which is strange as I was listening to it them OK last night.
It’s picking up music and ringtones from my sd card, when placed in the appropriate folder (the subfolders that are automatically created, such as /sdcard/Ringtones. the /sdcard/media folder isn’t used any more I think, although I might be wrong there)
and jason, my radio is the same as yours!
hey lennox, no the adobe update didnt fix the streaming problem. even the adobe settings page which tries to open up when you click adobe flash player app doesnt open up, just stays blank. still havent found out how to remove ad-free hosts, your method in old post didnt work, not sure where the problem is.
just replace /data/local/hosts with a non ad blocking one. please Google to figure it out.
Geez. This guy is rather rude and demanding.
Its often just the language barrier with SA that makes some posts appear rude
And last I checked, me spending 2-4 hours per day looking at development of the rom, and expecting people to spend 5 minutes finding an answer for themselves, doesn’t seem very demanding.
I am perfectly happy to answer questions if they haven’t been asked before, or aren’t easily solved by a simple search, so I can spend what time I do have to spare each day on better things.
Also, I did say please.
Errr ..Lennox … wasn’t talking about you, mate. I was talking about the original poster. I think you do a fantastic job and it reflects in your ROM. Which is why I will donate as soon as I get my Desire running to my liking. So sincere apologies if you thought I was talking about you.
Cheers
Guilty conscience! ;-P
Hahaha.
Still blown away by how good this beta is so early on in its’ infancy, despite my 16GB card going pop and screwing up my phone. (Unrelated issue)
I wish I knew how I could assist you more dude.
Right, my bad.
After reading again, I agree with talbess.
To assist, fix the camera, make a 3.0 kernel, and fix everything else that’s not working :p j/k
Cheers
Well why didn’t you just say?
In the words of my ex wife: keep it up!
But what was SHE talking about?
All I’ll say is that it was nothing to do with an Ice Cream Sandwich!
I think some peoples problems could be app related or maybe data restored from gb as I am running a very lite setup since this phone stays at home and doesnt have a sim card snymore. So far no reboots and no force closes only the gallery isn’t working. I have been using the phone for a couple hours each night comparing it to ICS 4.01 on my galaxy nexus.
It has been 2 days 14 hours since last charge and battery is at 41% and wifi has been on the whole time.
I didn’t touch the partition that I setup in March last year when I first started using MIUI Au, did a full wipe from the latest gb rom , flashed this rom and restored a few apps with data using titainium. I didn’t restore any other data only contacts from sync wiyh google.
Like Lennox said use google and try to resolve it first you would be surprised how much you can learn at the same time. I had trouble unlocking the bootloader on the GN but after 4hrs of research I know my new phone inside out, windows xp drivers were the issue in the end.
Thanks for a fantastic ROM.
I think it’s something being done wrong, because I’ve flashed and reflashed a million times trying to get stuff to work, and never once had it boot loop or not load up. I’ve broken lots of things and fixed them again, but still had less trouble.
Interestingly (and totally unrelated), I was looking at DianXin (ICS Version) today and ported it in about 10 minutes to the Desire, booted fine (same issues as very first MIUI build, no service, no usb blah blah blah, all fixed the same way if I could be bothered) but I did find it FAR smoother then MIUI. Was gonna test if the call number recognition worked, but haven’t got around to fixing the framework yet. Probably won’t as MIUI is taking all my spare time, but I did find it quite good.
Lennox,
I hadn’t heard of DianXin before you mentioning it here.
It looks great – reminds me of when MIUI was shiny and new.
I have a bit of free time at the moment, perhaps I’ll re-translate and build a working ROM from it.
You’d have to advise me on how to fix those things (USB, Cell Connection, etc) because I don’t get to fiddle with the Desire that much anymore.
Josh.
After looking at it more, it’s basically just AOSP with most of the interface replacement being user installable apk’s. A few are system apps, but once resigned appropriately, a small update pack will turn MIUI into DianXin anyway. I did end up fixing everything and getting it running, but there is still a bit of translating to do.
Give me some time and when I get the chance I’ll send a zip containing all the apk’s which need to be replaced/added, and you can go through and have a look what needs doing if you want.
Sounds like a plan.
Does the resigning allow the apks to replace existing AOSP ones?
I saw SystemUI-DX.apk – what makes android want to use it over the standard one?
Josh.
Yes, so you could flash an update.zip over MIUI_Au and turn it into DianXin, but still have all the benefits of MIUI_Au (other then actually running MIUI I suppose).
It just means now I can just resign anything to be a system apk, because I’ve made my own shared/platform/media/release keys and resigned everything with them appropriately. Obviously though it wouldn’t work flashing over anything else, as the apps which use android.uid.system still need to have the same signature (same with shared/media etc), which only whatever rom I sign will have. So basically would just need to replace a few frameworks, and some of the system apps, and it would be DX.
As for SystemUI-DX, thats a replacement for SystemUI, not one of the user installable apps. Works the same as MiuiSystemUI.apk in the ICS builds, exact same package name, just apk renamed.
Is it possible for me to flash the old music player?? I kind off like how I could choose from which directory I could play my music from.
Is there any FLY-IN ANIMATIONS ???
Yes if you use GOOGLE AND LEARN HOW TO DO IT
Anyone else having issues with MMS not downloading??
I am getting the notifiocation for a new message, but when I try to download it, I just get “currently unable to download, please try again later”.
Just wondering if this is a network issue or whether it is a Miui issue, as reading about it on various feedback people have mixed feedback on whether there MMS is working or not.
Have taken default and supl out of APN type and I can now receive MMS. Strange??
Taken these out of Telsta.iph that is and will now send and receive MMS that has standard telstra mms settings.
Hmmm, strange. I’ll look into the apn’s if I get time, but I think supl is necessary for GPS assistance? Not sure what default is for, although if its the obvious meaning of being the default connection, I guess if it works without it then it doesn’t matter.
No matter what (hboot) i’m stuck at the bootscreen… For like 15 mins now.. This roms won’t launch on my Desire :’(
Your not flashing the update without flashing the full rom first are you?
I’m sick of people doing that.
If not, do you have ext partition as 2nd partition on your SD card?
I have same problem.
I used 2.1.13 and I simply updated with 2.1.15, but Low Phone storage message appeared (however I use Data2Ext.)
No prob, I did a full backup, and reboot, recovery.
I reformated my ext2 partition to ext3 (I wanted to check speed differences, my USB speed remained slow, today miui backup upload “reached” 26KB/sec
)
So,
I did full wipe (cache, data, dalvik)
i installed 2.1.13
i installed 2.1.15
reboot
boot process stopped at brown miui screen – without animations.
ok,
recovery
full wipe
2.1.13
reboot
recovery again
2.1.15
It works, but after fresh install the statusbar indicates “low phone storage”.
I tried to copy 2.1.15 update files into 2.1.13 rom – and boot process stopped again
Sometimes i have No SIM message (as dragster88), but it can be skipped if I click somewhere to screen.
Lennox, If I can boot into 2.1.15 without low phone storage i’ll install quadrant and i’ll send results
.. and if I can help testing you, write to me.
What hboot do you use?
If the system boots with low memory message, you can still use the Control app to select a different A2SD setup, no?
Cheers, I’ve learnt pretty much all I can from quadrant scores now though.
I think data2sd in any format is causing problems, but for me its fine since I updated a2sd script and using patched libsqlite (but I’m still not 100% sure whether that makes a difference)
Nope, 2.1.13 before 2.1.15 and i’m using a ext partition.
Hi,
Frequent restarts on getting messages, with a message SIM card added-You must restart the device to access mobile network.
Anyone has the same issue?
Please help!
+1
Though I’m not calling my restarts frequent, but they are occurring (possibly more with GPS apps) and 50% of the time I get that SIM card added you must restart thing.
What a2sd setup are you using? I haven’t experienced this.
PC-A2SD.
Dalvik on SD is problematic in ics. Try normal a2sd. That said, I’m on data2ext and its fine, no fc, no lag, no weird reboots or sim messages.
People who need multi-lang can use the custom installer to replace with one containing your language.
please advise how ?
Hi…i recently came from sense rom and could not find following :
- Internet pass through (I tried USB tethering but cannot get correct drivers anywhere)
- Calender synchronization of facebook…
Is there any way to get these features..
Thanks in advance
No, not at the moment
Internet pass through wont work but If people are desperate for tethering here is a solution, Tried it with latest build and it works if the apk is installed on the phone first,
https://plus.google.com/103583939320326217147/posts/1Yy1jb9z4TA
This method also has the advantage that it hides (to a certain extent) your tethering activity from your carrier.
Maybe include this in the post as a temporary fix, might get people to try the newer builds.
Hope this helps
Josh
Wifi tether works fine, and that USB tether app requires PC installation also. Anyone not capable of using Google probably isn’t capable of setting it up?
Pda Net which can be downloaded from market is a short term fix for USB tethering also.
So I gave it another try. I repartitioned and reformated whole SD card (via 4ext, 128MB swap), did absolutely clean install with no recovery at all.
First thing I noticed was temperature of the phone. 20mins after flashing the ROM the phone was very hot, I almost couldn’t hold it (The battery drain again).
Second problem: when I tried to install anything from the Market, the phone rebooted (QuickBoot with MIUI_Au splash screenonly).
I did several restarts, cleared cache+Dalvik again. But after 1.5 hour of trying I gave up and returned to GB. I really don’t have a clue what could cause this behavior. Any help appreciated
My Bootloader screen:

TOUCH PANEL-SYNT0101
RADIO-5.17.05.23
Try without a swap partition? I don’t think it has any use in MIUI-AU, but it might have an adverse effect on the A2SD script perhaps?
Yes get rid of swap. Its never necessary.1 fat partition, followed by your ext partition.
Score will always be higher with data on ext. What class card are people using? No one able to get over 1600?
Did a few tries.
16Gb Class 10 Sandisk SDHC
cpu @ 128/1190 Smartassv2 – Ramscript removed and replaced with Ram Manager Pro using the Hard Gaming profile: 1730 (average from 3 tests)
cpu @ 128/998 Smartassv2 – Ramscript removed and replaced with Ram Manager Pro using the Hard Gaming profile: 1620 (average from 3 tests)
I think its safe to say the lib doesn’t increase the score, but I can say running data2ext at the moment is smoother than any other setup (for me), so I THINK the patching has worked. Will find out Friday I suppose.
Just a quick question:
Has anybody found the possibility to show only contacts that have phone numbers in the people app?
I was looking at all the settings but couldn’t find anything. Is it maybe still left out of the ROM?
I had the same question, can’t find it yet.
I just looked through the comments, and I see the first complaint about country codes not matching contacts in call logs and mms was on January 12th.
I was hoping (and I know its a long shot but thought I’d try) if someone can flash an earlier release such as 2.1.6 and see if it was working OK then? Otherwise I’ll do it myself when I have the chance and am home, but if someone has the good will to try would be very helpful. Also if it does work on 2.1.6, work up through releases and find which one breaks it.
Don’t expect any offers, but it will speed up my chances of solving the issue immensely.
This is the 1st ics rom I’ve installed so don’t have any on the phone to try and don’t fancy downloading them over networIveI’ve had a little test this morning though and contacts that are stored without a country code are recognised fine in phone and messaging. Contacts that are stored with a country code so +44 in my case are recognised fine in messaging but not in phone. The incoming call screen strips the country code and displays it as normal but with no contact name attached. Not sure if this I’d of any help Lennox.
Thanks for that. Its strange though, I was testing by messaging myself from my partners phone, and sometimes her name showed up, sometimes it didn’t. Her number is saved as 04….. Quite certain I didn’t really change anything in between. I’m sure the location display worked at some point, because when the phone was force closing only when pressing certain numbers, it was because the unknown location string was missing. I’m certain when it didn’t fc the contacts said Australia. And I’m also fairly certain that when 04…. is matched to Australia, it will also match to +61. Don’t know what I could’ve changed to affect it though.
Just for your information:
The country and city codes ind Germany seem to work fine
Flashed the first ICS beta (was the only one I still had, 2.1.6 is offline? can’t find the link anyway).
I stored the number i was calling myself with using (for example) 0611111111. This resulted in a unknown number. Storing it as +31611111111 showed the name and the location.
Ah, edit doesn’t work. It shows as 2.1.6 in the build.prop
Hmmm. I have a feeling its something simple I’m missing causing the problem. Thanks for testing.
I know where the code is that takes country codes and creates an effective number, so I may be able to brute-force something, but I’d rather find why its doing it. pretty sure all country codes are listed in there. Out of interest (I have no idea how it works), does the country code ALWAYS get replaced by 0?
One thing I did notice from ICS is that it started showing my SIM contacts. I noticed this when my mom called me and it showed it as “Mom” instead of her name that i use in google contacts.
Sorry for all these consecutive comments, cant edit
I noticed the same thing. Took me a while to figure it out, I couldn’t understand why all my contacts showed up without restoring any backups.
Can as many of you as possible who are running one of the a2sd setups which moves data to SD please post your quadrant score? Would be helpful.
While im not on a data2sd script, i’ll post my scores (full bench) anyway.
(2.1.15/1gb Ext3,using Ram Manager instead of the ramscript): 942
Thanks but I need scores from people on either data2sd, data2ext or lx-a2sd. I’m getting ~1600, want to know if its an improvement or not.
1540 with data2ext
I get 962, 994 and 1079 with Data2SD.
If the speed of the SD card is a big influence, the scores are hard to compare. There are Class 10 card that are slower than certain Class 6 cards (or even a specific Class 4 card).
PC-A2SD, 2.1.15.
no-frills settings:
min: 128
max: 1,152
gov: smartassv2
sched: sio
quadrant scores:
1st run: 1001
2nd run: 932
3rd run: 986
928 using A2SD EXT3 (IIRC) – 2.1.15
Wife tried on hers with same setup, got exact same score. 928
How on earth are you getting 1600?
Firstly, I wouldn’t read too much into it. Quadrant scores are NOT an indication of better. I can easily make mine 2500 with a few simple tweaks, but my phone won’t be any faster.
That said, for me it does seem much better on data2ext now with patched libsqlite (testing atm, big thanks to texasice). But as someone else achieved a similar score with the normal lib, it hasn’t affected my quadrant score.
I was just curious whether patched lib was raising the score or not, but I’ve got no lag whatsoever on data2ext setup now so I’ll definitely include it on Friday.
I get 1038 Points using lx-a2sd
I changed mine to LX-A2SD and scored 1232
Switched back to A2SD and it went back down to 927
LX-A2SD Quadrant score or 1279, without overclocking kernel.
Overclocked to 1152 (the fastest my phone will take and remain stable), and Quadrant gave 1336
Oh, and using a class 10 Lexar SD card.
The ICS port works very well, keep up the great work! However, I have one problem – data doesn’t seem to work, I can’t browse the web nor get my email when on the cell network. Wireless works fine, btw…
Have you set up your apns? Do u get a 3g or h icon next to signal at all?
ICS compatible adobe flash now available on market. Let me know if that was the problem with video streaming. I won’t add it to the rom, would just be nice to know.
Hey Lennox.
I was wondering, is it possible to port the GB miui File manager, seeing the ICS one, lacks root and even more crucial; the start screen (which is 65% of why I use Miui in the first place)?
This would defo make my day much better
Anything is possible, but no.
I’m not bothering to add root access again, because without permission fixing its next to useless. Use jrummy16′s (?) Root Browser. Its free on the market, and the unlock file is automatically created each time you flash the rom (purely for my benefit) so no ads. Should mention that in main post I suppose. And the author himself posted on xda how rom devs can do this, so no its not anything dodgy.
Side note, I was using the miui file manager (ics) on sandvolds build before I started porting miui to the desire. All you need to do is push framework-miui-res.apk and FileExplorer.apk to the appropriate places. Dunno how many other apps are as easily ported (none that rely on the whole miui framework will work) but I found it interesting.
sorry one more question, i know the adb shell option, isnt really working for me i dunno whats wrong with my drivers, but when trying with terminal emulator it says theres no such folder and cant be done, what should i do?
So here my feedbacks after two days .
The Rom is pretty slow in general. Off course its a beta so I’m not worry about that. Same for the lag in scroll and swipe.
Pretty stable. One FC. This is good for a very beta . Good work.
This beta is beautiful . ICS is so cool .
Anyway . This work is great. Keep going Lennox !
I’m glad you like it, just wish everyone had smoothness like I’m getting.
Mine is as smooth as any GB release. Only get a few random reboots whilst using browser, but then i did try to restore bookmarks with titanium which stopped the browser from working at all until i cleared browser data in app settings.
Browser could scroll a little faster but thats about it. Been using it since friday night and not going back to GB!
I know there’s still bugs to work out, but at least I’m not the only one for whom it runs smoothly.
One other grumble is how sensitive the screen is whilst using widgets, scrolling on a calendar widget and hover your finger too long on the widget and it keeps wanting to re position or resize it self, Thats nothing to do with the rom though and probably ICS it self.
RE: sensitivity try changing this setting:
Menu>Settings>Accessibility>Touch & hold delay = medium (default is long) seemed to help the sensitivity issue for me
Many thanks for the tip, mine was set on short, changed it to long seems to have done the trick.
Mine got sluggish on day two after having trouble with 2.1.10 maps, and nav not working properly, but a reboot sorted that out. 2.1.13 was nice and smooth for me for a day or so then the launcher was sluggish to reappear, reboot solved it. 2.1.15 looks great so far.
Only issue I’ve come across so far is gallery FC now and then, especially when coming out of video playback. That doesn’t bother me though.
I can’t imagine going back to Sense after using your ROMs, great work, its like having a new phone every week.
Upon contemplation, I would adjust my performance rating to ‘on par with GB releases’.
The launcher is a little jumpy, but this is normal and expected (as you stated a week or so ago).
Every now and then, likely due to my own actions, CalendarStorage force closes. I’ll clear it’s data and see how that goes.
Overall, It’s just so pretty!
Replace it with another launcher (like my 360 mod wherever that is :p) and it does feel much smoother.
Hi,
I just wanted to check back and say that this ROM is amazing. Everything I need is working great and I’ll use this as my daily driver. There’s just one thing: You think you could add the newest Google Music App to the ROM. The current one has no Google Music support. I got myself the new one from the US-Market using market enabler but it was installed as a new app and didn’t update the existing app (I had to disable the old one using ‘manage applications’)
I also realized that scrolling in apps is sometimes pretty sluggish and the gallery and facebook need some time to load, but that’s nothing I can’t live with
Continue your great work and thanks for giving us the possibility to look into MIUI 4.0 so early
Link me an apk and I’ll look at it.
Remember that once MIUI official replace it with their music app then you’ll hafta sort it out yourself
Sorry, shoud’ve thought about that:
http://www.multiupload.com/GK71CEZCO0
I mean this one. It has the new ICS style and Google Music integration. The one installed looked like an old Gingerbread App.
I know that there will be probably a new MIUI Music app and I’m looking forward to it. IMHO it’s the greatest Music app out there (I really love the lyrics function). Google Music is just something to play around with for me, but I thought including the newest version as long as there’s no MIUI Music would be better
“the device is beeing scanned for music”
not a good start. does look better though so will include for next update.
Hi, I just read that the CM9 Music app was released and that it has some more functions than the original ICS app:
http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/01/16/cyanogenmod-9-music-app-officially-released-for-download-coming-to-market-soon/
It doesn’t have Google Music integrated though, but I think it could be still better than the official app because the Google Music service is right now US only or world wide if you register through a proxy.
But it’s your choice what you’ll like more
I can’t edit the last post…
I’ll also have a look at the theming engine. Maybe I can make a MIUI theme for that as long as there’s no official MIUI Music app. I’ll have a look at it after my lectures this afternoon
The CM9 one is good, but the stock pics looks nicer and flows better when you scroll. CM9 is 1mb vs 5mb, and with more functionality so that’s probably the way I’ll go. They’re both better then what is included at the moment. I’m also probly gonna replace gallery with the gallery 3d old version, because it just works. Obviously MIUI have their own gallery and music, but this will make things a bit better in the meantime.
I’d like to know how to move dalvik-cache to /sd-ext. I’m using a2sd (default).
Could u please answer my question? It really bother that Im not able to watch streams online
I didn’t answer the wifi question because I don’t know, and the ad-free hosts question because google would answer it for you.
echo 127.0.0.1 localhost>/data/local/hosts
If that doesn’t make sense, try google. Please forgive the frustration.
I found system didn’t mount SD card automatically if I reboot and didn’t do manual unlock. It always show SD card icon on notifications bar on the top of screen. This makes some processes fail to start. I think they’re the process that stored on SD card. SD card will be mounted when I do unlock the screen. I don’t get this error when I use 360 launcher. Because of 360 launcher is not stay on lock screen when you reboot. It would be fine for 360 but I prefer original launcher than 360 launcher.
Notes: I use Data2SD.
This error happens for sometime and I cannot specific the condition.
Something is very wrong with your setup. mounting of the SD card has nothing to do with what launcher is running. full wipe.
Same wifi signal strength issue here, c:ould it have something to do with ics’ wlan n connectivity problem? And why don’t live streams in any browser work, if its because of the ad block script, how can I remove it? Thanks
To those 2-4 people that have mentioned the wifi strength being reported as low, what radio ROM are you on? Mine’s 5.09.05.30_2
Radio version 32.48.00.32U_5.11.05.14…haven’t played with radio at all
Hello Lennox
Still have a problem with A2SD. I’m unable to restore all my apps. Low space disk. And also strange when I move the apps in SD Card the low disk space still here.
For ICS its a specific script for A2SD ? Or the old one (for GB) works ?
You probably haven’t changed the setting, so dalvik and data are still on internal.
I should have look better before asking dumb question next time
.
Thank you for you’re answer .
No offence, but LOTS of people should learn to read and google before asking questions. I don’t mind answering, but sometimes it gets tiresome.
At the end of the day I’ll keep doing it though, can’t help but help I suppose.
Glad you sorted it out.
Hi,
I tried v2.1.15, but it’s unbelievably slow since first clean install. For example when I started Titanium backup, calculating scenarios of batch operations took almost 5 times more time than on 1.12.23. Starting any other application got the same “lazy” reaction. When I click inside a textbox, SlideIt keyboard appears after 20-40 seconds!! I checked governor – On Demand, I checked CPU fequency – 256-998MHz, I checked processess load – under 10% of CPU, so it should be OK, but still is unbelievably slow and laggy
Another problem I encountered is WiFi signal strength. I got *half* of previous signal stregth and when I go to my living room (AP is in the hall) I almost lost the signal :-/
Ay suggestions where the problem dwells?
Crap SD card? Speed is fine here.
Don’t know about wifi, also fine for me.
I don’t think so, 1.12.23 runs smoothly so i don’t think crappy sd card is the reason. There’s also problem with battery drain – after 2 hours connected to the charger the battery was only 20% full (charged from 0), normally it takes half of that time.
It was like some process is taking a 100% of Cpu, but when I checked it was normal. Any ideas?
You’re forgetting GB and ICS are two very different things. And I am not having any of the problems you suggest, so in some way it is specific to your circumstances.
No ideas I’m afraid.
I’ve observed the lower reported wifi signal strength and vastly reduced battery life too.
Lennox, I don’t expect you to fix every issue reported here, but do you want us commenting on the problems we’re noticing in case others are experiencing them?
I’d suggest you don’t burden yourself with responding to every comment, just let the community note what it’s observing and keep an overview for when you do the next update. We’re not paying you to be 24/7 tech support!
It’s fine to comment. I just wish people would google or try to find an answer themselves before posting, because I can’t help but answer.
Seriously, it doesn’t take much to solve a lot of the issues. Most of the time I google the answer. And its on the first page ffs. Thats my two cents. Sorry.
I think what Lennox is trying to say is that googling/checking the previous comments prevents the same question or problem being asked or reported multiple times.
For example, I am experiencing a less responsive system than I was in GingerBread. Logic suggests that the following could be the problem:
– SD Card speed – A problem if ICS requires android to do a lot of ‘paging’ (or killing and reloading apps to free RAM)
– A2SD scheme – As above
– Apps installed and running – If you are an app monster, this may have quite prominent effects on performance for various reasons (such as compatibility)
– Perception of ‘responsive’ – A big issue, because even though I find ICS buids quite laggy and unresponsive, the coolness factor kind of speeds it up a little, making it bearable.
Judging by people’s responses to ICS releases, performance seems to be a mixed bag. There will be issues, as it is just Lennox (and a bit of good fortune) getting everything to play nicely together. MIUI official still has issues, and there is a team working on it all week.
As there is a tiny development team (one member) at the moment, and there are many things which need work, unreplicatable issues (such as above) cannot be dealt with at the moment.
Regarding not answering comments –
When I was in charge, I wanted to spend time here helping out and answering comments. When the same kind of comments were made without being logical, it became quite frustrating. Additionally, when requests were made which were outside my proficiency (IE anything more complex than simple decompiling of APKs), over and over again, it was quite off-putting.
To sum it up:
– Yes, comment on problems.
– Yes, check before posting.
– No, don’t expect a solution.
Josh.
What he said
Remove apps that be installed from GB backup if any. It used to worked for me.
My experiences were after a full wipe with no apps installed. The sluggishness is likely something to do with my Desire still using the Stock HBOOT.
Same here for wi-fi signal strength
move about 5 mtrs from AP and lose 1 bar, move few more mtrs and 2 bars gone. I used to be able to sit outside my backdoor (approx 10 mtrs) and still have 1-2 bars showing.
Noticed the same battery issue and just re-installed “battery defender” and it seems to have improved over the last 48 hrs. Drains really fast with moderate usage though.
Otherwise running smooth n fast…did have an issue when restoring apps in that nothing would restore from MIUI backup but no such trouble with Titanium, I’m wondering if the MIUI backup file/folder has been moved with the ICS build as I just copied my sd-card stuff directly back from a GB backup on PC, hmmm.
included in the Turkish language?
thanks.
no
A mirror please. Link doesn’t work. Also please give up using apasaja anymore. It is problematic.
Bandwith isn’t free, though I personally think multiupload is he best option too
.
No offence but the server is fine if your not in Turkey, and multi upload=no ota so its gonna stay how it is for the moment.
*upgraded that is.
Need to check the comment edit functionality lads, not working properly
After close to a year still very excited about MIUI-Au. ROM is just great, and the support is very good too.
I have upgrading to ICS, and I’m amazed. MIUI + Android 4 is just the perfect combination.
Since the upgrade I stumbled upon the following things:
- What happened to the screen grab shortcut MENU + VOL DOWN? Is there still a screenshot utility built-into MIUI or do I have to use an external app?
- The changelog states I could integrate Dutch into the Android keyboard by using some sort of custom installer. Could anybody shed any light on that? How am I supposed to do that?
Thanks in advance!
its a toggle in the notification page only at the moment, no hardware combo.
and seriously, read the main post and you should find what your after.
I am not here as everyone’s personal Google.
@Lennox : ok,it’s just for the system space ? how about hboot bravo_sense :
180M system 40M cache 217M data
I think there’s enough space for the rom and it has 40mb cache…
Next full rom will work on that with no sd-ext
can’t download. pls post mirror links.
since 2.1.15 update smart keyboard pro doesnt work, it was ok with 2.1.13.
the keyboard shows but it wont recognize any of my key presses.
slideit etc are wokring great.
NVM, after a reboot its working great, again.
Thanks for the mention of smart keyboard pro, very happy with it as a replacement for the HTC_IME keyboard. At least i can type a bit better again, just cant get on with the stock keyboard.
Try checking the thread where it was posted (I don’t know).
I just pulled the img out of the zip and flashed via flash_image in terminal.
if your s-off, put img file on SD card and type in terminal:
flash_image recovery /sdcard/nameoffile.img
If that sounds complicated don’t try it.
done, nothing complicated, thanks for the little guide
Great work till now, love this Rom
Small problem since 2.1.15: When I try to launch the power menu (long-pressing power button), my phone does what I think is a hot reboot (restarting the rom). Can’t get to the power menu to reboot, but I can boot to recovery through the update app.
Are you using English or a different locale setting?
Can you push the framework-res.apk from 2.1.13 onto system/framework and see if that fixes it? just replace the one in the 2.1.15 update then flash again.
power button works great here. with 2.1.15 tried the default locale, was ok. then changed to my locale and its still ok.
Download is fine for me?
i checked again and get same errors. by the way i am not from au
I don’t know why some people have trouble depending where they are.
Can’t upload ATM sorry.
Please add some mirrors ! i can’t download roms. trying over and over and i get timeout error.
For anyone willing to help test the OTA updates before friday, please push this apk to system (the 2.1.13-2.1.15 update will be available OTA)
http://www.multiupload.com/B8GRU1AIA1
Updater installed fine and found the update. Downloaded it but getting E:signature verification failed error when booting into 4ext 2.2.7.
Needed to toggle signature verification and manually applied the update through recovery worked.
Not sure but it worked fine for me with latest 4ext touch, don’t know which versions have the broken ota support.
OTA worked fine for me…nice start for ICS on Desire, congrats. Long way to go compared to the refined MIUI_GB ROM which in the last incarnation was slick as! I may go back to GB after a small taste of Ice Cream Sandwich
, thanks for yours and the other developers efforts.
…using 4ext touch beta 8
Really? Wouldn’t work for me on public beta 8, that’s why I had to update to version he posted on his thread. Even said in change log it was to fix problem with miui ota. weird.
If you want to thank anyone, thank the guys who’ve got ics running on the desire. Porting miui is easy enough for me to do on my own, but no way I’d be able to sort out all the ics issues without other roms to base it on.
downloaded latest zip file, with miui ota fix: http://www.4ext.net/PB99IMG.zip
taken link from: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=21411620&highlight=miui#post21411620
how to flash this kind of zip? as a normal rom? or the procedure is different?
No, not really…the download worked but would not install directly. I had to go into ext4 and flash manually AND I can’t remember if I downloaded it directly then flashed ooops! Sorry for the mis-information
Why ext3?
Anyway I just installed and it’s working great. Launcher 360 is pretty nice as well.
Because ext4 has little to no performance difference, other then seems to cause more problems.
ok 24 hours since install..
formatted every thing, reformatted SD as per your how to with 2 Gig ext3 as second partition,
so far so good, with a couple of small problems
settings, sound, ringtones (with theams set as default) can change ringtone and notification but try to touch either sms setting causes FC
settings, account & sync, it will not let me add facebook, app is installed, facebook appears in the list of available account types but that is it, selecting it just takes me back to the account listing page.
maps seems moderately unstable as navigator (crashed twice on a 45min journey)
but still love ICS and don’t thing any of these problems will force me to go back
appreciate the work you guys do
The sound settings work fine here.
Facebook sync is a known ICS problem I think.
I don’t use Maps so can’t comment, but expect some instability for the time being at least with this rom.
Try using friendcaster, far superior app to the native facebook app and contact pictures are much more clear.
Sorry, don’t mean to hijack the thread but I tried Friendcaster with my latest GB version and I cannot view anyone else’s albums and photos.
Hi Lennox thanks for your great work. I am trying to port This ROM to HD2 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1439363 everything works great however i am getting FC for Superuser everytime i run some application requeting for SU access attching kigcat. looks like some library or file is missing or not getting loaded. any help would be much appreciated.

Use my modified LBE_SEC.apk, and make sure your installer places the following libraries and sets the permissions:
set_perm(0, 0, 0755, “/system/lib/liblbesec.so”);
set_perm(0, 0, 0755, “/system/lib/libloader.so”);
set_perm(0, 0, 0755, “/system/lib/libnativecache.so”);
set_perm(0, 0, 0755, “/system/lib/libservice.so”);
The ones that aren’t in the lib folder already can be found inside the apk.
Then it should work.
Also, I see you’ve linked here for complete changelog. You’ve listed everything that I’ve listed as far as the MIUI official changelog, so unless your using my rom as a base (which I see no mention of?) this page is irrelevant.
Edit: It was in big letters at the top of the post, my bad
Thank you for your help. I figured it out since miui security is based on lbesecurity i downloaded there apk and found it had libloader.so, libnativecache.so, libservice.so, i took those files from your buid and pushed to my phone and changed permission. so far it works great i am still using default LBESEC_MIUI.apk came with your build. is that the one you are referring to.
Yes, the original miui one had some errors. Not sure if they fixed them but I applied a couple of modifications to make it able to access the libraries.
I have included Script to modify contact database in port i have created for HD2, for facebook contacts can sync it works great only flip side is it contct photos are not displayed under favourites tab. everywhere else it is ok.
http://android.modaco.com/page/news/_/android/enabling-facebook-sync-in-ice-cream-sandwich-r140 you can take a look.
I saw that, but was worrying about other stuff atm. now that you’ve mentioned it I better do it for next update :p
Another question.
Where is YouTube App ? Not avalible in the Market. Why is not installed in the stock Miui Rom ?
Because I don’t usually include anything available from the market. And youtube is usually available from the market.
As for why it’s not on the market, I don’t know.
Jason, you can safely delete those with orange corner.
Some of my apps have duplicate icons with little orange tags on the bottom right corner. What’s that all about? Something do to with the MIUI tutorial or permissions?
http://imgur.com/gJaxl
No its the market adding shortcuts I think. Change your market setting.
Sweet, I’ve untagged “auto add home screen widgets for new apps” – will see if that stops any more appearing…
Djmace, I do not know… can you try to disable spell check from keyboard settings and try? i am not using spell check, maybe this is the reason it is working for me.
I give up, ive tried so many different combinations now and each one results in the same, 3 letters typed and the keyboard fc’s.
Ive removed the original i had from the GB roms. Placed the file you posted in system and rebooted, installed after placing it in system, installed from the sd card, installed from sd card and moved to system. Nothing seems to allow the keyboard to work.
Also dj, did you place both the apk AND the lib in system?
I placed the lib file from the gb rom in the lib folder in system and it still fc’d. Think ive run out of possible options now trying to get it to work, unless theres is something someone else can think of?
Try using the lib file from the apk that supposedly works. That way it definitely matches. After that I have no idea.
Still no joy, placed the lib file from within the apk into the lib folder and the apk in system and still only getting 3 or 4 letters before it fc’s.
Just to be clear Juraj, are you running ICS or GB?
After flashing the phone is detecting the SD card. I’ve partitioned the card to 512MB EXT2. My boot screen in recovery mode is recognizing but not after phone is started.
I fell in love again with MIUI. AOSP Roms are way too boring! I installed the ICS rom, and works quite well. A bit laggy sometimes, and I can’t seem to find some settings (eventhough I’m a experienced MIUI user).
There’s one thing I wanted to ask: Where’s Youtube? It’s not installed by stock, not in the market, and the webmarket says my device isn’t compatible. Quite strange :s
Good luck with further porting!
@Djmace:
did you uninstall prevoius version with root app remover? And check permissions in security also?
Remove old version, reboot install new version, give permissions and try again.
Just tried and same problem. Removed with root explorer, rebooted and: installed. Installing places it in SD ext though and not system. Can it be moved to system and permissions set?
Download link don’t work. Is it only my problem?
Server was overloaded for a couple of moments there. Up now.
The HTC ime keyboard posted a few posts back doesn’t work for me, can type 3 letters then crashes.
After the installation is finished and it boots in to ICS, it then frezzes and reboots after 10-15 seconds. This goes on in constant loop. Tried the ICS from XDA too, and same thing there. Tried googling, but could´t seem to find anyone with the same problem.
Any ideas?
Let me guess, you have smaller then stock hboot and your sd-ext partition:
a) does not exist
b) is not the second partition
c) is not being mounted by the kernel
I have HBOOT 6.93.1002. I created a fat partition as my first and a second ext3 with 512 mb.
I must admit that I just follow instructions and don´t have the knowhow I should have, when doing this stuff.
How do I proceed if my problem is that my HBOOT is smaller than stock or that my sd-ext partition is not mounted by kernel?
The latest GB works great, it´s just the ICS that freezes and reboots.
Have you changed hboot layout? Or is your system partition still 250(I think) Mb.
If the ext partition is the second partition then tat should work. Did you do a full wipe before installing? And have you installed a decent recovery?
Nope, this HTC time still crashes on mine…
There is a link for working Htc_ime keyboard, works great for me:
http://db.tt/Cb5cqc2J
Guess I was wrong. Thanks for sharing, for those who use it.
This from is full English. Will be others Languages (French etc) in Locale settings for the no Australian Miui Au users ?
Probably one day. Not priority at the moment. Don’t even have Australian English yet!
And by that I mean the locale will be recognised but the rom will be full English still. Keyboard will eventually be English only (when it will compile properly), and users who need multilang keyboard can read and organise it themselves, its very easy thanks to the custom installer script.
Thanks for you’re answer. Off course i understand its not the preoccupation at the moment. Thanks again.
Thanks for understanding
Hi i am having problem with GTalk app.
when ever i try to start voice chat it force closes, any idea?
i am using default setup . i installed this build after clean wipe
and only restored the sms and call logs from previous ICS 2.1.10 build
Will sort out for next update hopefully.
that would be really nice !
I’ve seen mention of it and the solution so try Google if you can’t wait (update won’t be for a while)
Brilliant work on the ICS! I was just wondering how long it will take until the Miui music player can be ported to this ROM.
Cheers
DON’T ASK FOR ETA’S. Sorry bout that. Done when it’s done (by MIUI Official, not me).
Thanks Lennox, working well. Just noting an observation that some of my apps are getting duplicate icons on the launcher. Seems like I can delete the dupe without any issues though.
Actually, “working well” is a bit of a stretch, I’m getting quite a few random FCs that I can’t pin down, but hey, it’s beta.
What setup are you using? What is force closing? I haven’t had any of the force closes people mention, other then ones specifically cause by me and subsequently fixed. Gallery, camera are two known issues which are unstable (in all ics builds). Speaking of my errors, 4-way reboot is missing because MIUI added their own global actions and left the normal ones (so I patched the normal ones thinking that would do it). It’s working now, and will be in next update.
S-OFF, 4ext touch recovery,PC-A2SD, 3ext as second partition.
Like I said, I can’t pin them down, and some of my apps have been installed from GB titanium backups, so I can’t be certain it’s related to you or MIUI. It’s just randomly rebooted a couple of times when I’ve tried to mount it as a USB drive and when using GPS apps (maps and waze). Also had some issues with it getting a data connection when switching from WiFi to 3G.
I’m same as you pretty much, cm7 hboot. no apps restored from gb backups, no problems with anything you mentioned. could be coincidence, but I warned against it for a reason.
While I’m doing the reinstall, any need for me to change my hboot to cm7? Currently stock hboot.
No, stock hboot is best
have you guys considered torrenting these roms, it might reduce server needs and would let us (the users) help to distribute it
Gallery working was a fluke as it seems. Not working now anyways.
Anyone else get fc when trying to rearrange launcher screens? Other than that it seems quicker and all. Fixed gallery fc by taking a pic, then viewing it. Dunno if it’s a fluke or not, but working now.
the problem it had (uploading a photo to facebook from gallery implied having it deleted from sdcard…), is still present? miui-au roms had this, at least until before christmas (i’m on that period rom version now, waiting for ics to stabilize a bit)…
I got the force close, I’ll look into it.
The gallery is one of the problems on all ics roms, and I haven’t tried to fix it yet.
Don’t know about Facebook. I never had the problem, and I have no idea whether it still exists. It was in all miui roms.
Can you try and get a logcat if the screen moving fc happens again? Now that I’ve plugged in, it won’t do it, and I haven’t changed anything else.
Well I got the launcher to fc again, went to check logcat, now it’s working fine again.
I checked logcat and I can’t discern the exact problem, but it seems to be a bit random at the moment.
Hi Guys,
Probably a silly question but does this ROM have the stock Ice Cream Sandwich SMS app?
Many Thanks
Funnily enough it has the miui messaging app.

Haven’t been able to complete the download yet, but while it is downloading I did make a small donation to the team.
I encourage everyone who uses MIUI_AU as a daily ROM to do the same. If you pay 6.5 $ for titanium backup or 5 bucks for another app you use frequently its surely also worth it to donate to the MIUI_AU team as we use the OS the most of everything.
Especially Lennox has put in so much effort the last couple of months and brought MIUI_AU further then ever (his last comment below here is from 2:45 AM australian time!!). But not only him, since the new MIUI also requires new translations.
Will try to upload to a mirror if i complete it soon.
Your very kind, all donations are much appreciated.
Oh and I’m in south Australia, so it was 2:15am :p
Much improved over 2.1.10 in terms of smoothness. Still having the weird issue with texts and calls not resolving contact names. This follows no pattern as some are +44 7xx and others are 07xx. If I change the contact number to the opposite way it then resolves, so I thought I’d change them all, but it’s pretty random.
Your modded HTC ime still crashes too…
Other than that, awesome – I love it!
Glad the smoothness wasn’t just in my mind.
Have you tried messing around in the phone settings to see if anything fixes it?
HTC ime probly won’t ever work, there were froyo and gingerbread specific versions and I don’t think ics is any less of a change.
Just a thought – I’ve noticed in Australia that different mobile services use different caller ID’s – that is, some have the number as 04xx and some as +614xx.
To me that would suggest that where before it would resolve either to either, now it actually cares what the prefix is on the incoming call compared to what’s recorded for the contact.
I have the same issue with a few numbers, but I did a massive contacts cleanup and converted them all to +614xx for consistency’s sake.
+61 is country code. nothing to do with carrier, all mobile numbers are 04……
Sorry Lennox, I didn’t explain what I meant properly…
I was referring explicitly to what the phone receives as a caller ID. For example I have my brother saved in Contacts as +614xxx but when he calls the caller ID is 04xxx – and I have a missed call from that number that isn’t identified as being from him.
If I add 04xxx to his contact page his name now displays in the call log entry.
When I receive an SMS from him it’s always from +614xxx so in Messaging he always displayed correctly.
My theory is that there used to be some logic that said that ’0′ is the same as ‘+yourcountrycode’ when matching numbers that is not there any more…
I know that and I am looking to fix it, just saying it doesn’t change between carrier, +61 and 0 should always have the same result.
How is the frame rates? Is it skipping or is it silky smooth?
Try it and see
i was wondering if i delete from the zip some apks before flashing the rom i can use a different hboot than the stock one…can someone help me ?
thanx !
The zip installer script is smart enough to look at your Hboot configuration and install accordingly. You can use any Hboot.
Where did you get the idea stock HBOOT is required? Please read the main post properly.
“Make sure you have an sd-ext partition setup as the second partition on your sd card. Only stock hboot users will be able to install this and have it run properly without one.”
sorry,what does it mean ?
It means that if your not on stock hboot you need an sd-ext partition as the second partition on your sd card
Hi thanx for the good work . Which one is preferred for this ROM ext3 or ext4 partition as the 2nd sdcard partition?
ext3
