Changelog
- Official Changelog Here
- Changed keyboard for the Xperia S ICS one (modded by me to look better, take up less space, and work with Google Now voice input). Feedback is welcome, still English only for space reasons.
- Added GoogleTTS from Jellybean (US voice only, the GB one is horrible, plus saving space)
- Added Google Now (not the same one I posted on xda, it’s better. No offline dictation though, saves ~30Mb on /system. For certain reasons I’ve decided to remove the widget and the Voice Search shortcut, as it causes more hiccups than its worth. Hopefully one day I’ll have it fully functional, or someone else does :p, but it’s working pretty well now)
- Updated Play Store (and patched to disable the self-updater)
- Added Aroma installer to choose which partition to flash to (only compatible with my recovery, the zip won’t work in Updater)
- Much more theming, English fixing, merging of JB, optimising etc etc. Feel smoother much?
Included in MIUI-Au:
- Aroma Installer (please use my recovery available below). Choose which system to flash, and no need to rename files.
- 5-way reboot (including Normal, Hot Boot, Bootloader, Recovery & Switch System)
- Supports init.d
- Starting to merge in Jellybean API’s for app compatibility and performance. One step at a time.
- Removed system update button and “Report to MIUI” button
- Removed SuperMarket, BugReport and original Weather widget.
- Made the two system partitions have independent data storage (as long as one of them is MIUI_Au it will work
) - Includes libs for beats, xloud, bravia engine and playstation certification (thanks RockoDev & XXXPacha) – If you don’t notice any difference, neither do I, but it’s all in there for those who insist on it.
- Removed mpdecision (better performance and battery life)
- Modded Xperia S ICS Keyboard (English Only)
- Updated adreno libs
- Jelly Bean SDK animations
- All widgets are resizable, in any launcher which supports the ICS API for resizing widgets
- Added Google Ears (Sound Search widget), Play Store, GoogleTTS, and Google Now!.
- Includes modified Genie Widget to provide MIUI style for us international users
- Included Media Uploader and the HTC Picasa plugin (I have no way to test whether these work or are useful at all?)
- Includes crypted’s aGPS patch for extremely good GPS performance
- Ad-Free hosts file
- Patched libsqlite for better data performance
- AppWidgetPicker for those who prefer other launchers (thanks to boombuler)
- Google location included instead of the default Baidu service
- Google search as default instead of Baidu
- No recommended tab in MMS except for Chinese users
- Busybox properly installed to /system/xbin at install time
Included in Control Panel:
- Centre/switched/normal status bar layout
- Overscroll effect and weight
- Enable on-screen keys
- IO Scheduler and read ahead buffer for internal and SD Card
- CPU Governor/Min/Max settings
- A few other external apks are linked to from Control Panel (Terminal, Development, Device Tests) to save desktop clutter
Installation & Support Instructions:
- The zip contains the wonderful Aroma installer (thanks to Amarullz), so will need to be flashed from my LennoxRecovery (available here).
- Any errors, feel free to post but do not demand a solution.
- Flash at your own risk, and always take a backup before doing so.
More good news, touch is now working in aroma. And the menu home and back buttons work, so ill re map the keys to something more useful.
Bad news, touch calubration is way off. Hopefully i can sort it out before tomorrow.
And thank amarullz, i had nothing to do with it (unless i fix the calibration). If you like aroma please donate to him, i have done before and will do again, as all devs who use his amazing work should.
@Lennox you posted something of interest to me in your changelog, wondering if I could pick your brian about signing of apks and issues I have with GoogleBackupTransport.apk for my own personal rom…If your up for lending some knowledge, let me know the best way to get a hold of you twitter / Google+ etc.
GoogleBackupTransport has to be signed with the platform key of your Rom. What did you need to know?
Hi.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S3, and i have rooted my phone. I use now MIUI 2.8.3 now, because I like it alot. But I have a problem with WI-FI. I can use my Wireless router, but when I try to set my proxy to connection, I can’t use the connection to my router. Can anyone help me about this?
No sorry, this isn’t related to the gs3 at all.
Lennox,
I’ve flashed my Mi-One with a stock ICS rom and would like to use Miui-AU.
How do I flash your recovery? Do i need to go back to Miui first?
Thanks!
Sorry but yeah, to flash my recovery needs to be done through miui updater. And you need my recovery to flash the Rom. Its worth it though, nothing else on the mi one is quite like this
thanks LENNOX!!! fantastic new recovery, nice rome, fantastic Aroma installer
)
♥
Glad you like my work
Hey Lennox.
First of all – thanks for great work
I was using Miui-Au for quite long time on my desire(bravo) it was awesome, now i wanted to update and eventually u have no builds for desire anymore? Or i just cannot find it?
Tnx
Try maranges rom on xda. Its the best miui v4 for the desire.
tnx for tip
I’m using the Mi-One just for a couple of days and I’m very excited. I have the MIUI 2.8.3 (not AU) The only problem is that in Holland my 3G is not working. Does anybody know if it’s working with MIUI_AU 2.8.3? I have Vodafone NL
Cant guarantee but try it and see. Your apn settings would be the problem so if it doesn’t i can fix it
To all: due to personal stuff this weeks update will probably be Sunday. Don’t worry, its worth the wait of course
Yes I changed the apn settings but it still doesn’t work. I don’t have Miui-Au. Do you think it’s worth to flas Miui-Au just only to try for 3G?
There’s far more reasons to use miui au. Try it and see
Give me a logcat and some more info about what is happening and ill see what i can do. What frequency network are you on? Is it definitely supported? Do you get Internet connection at all?
Tonight I wil flash Miui-Au and after that I’ll try to give you some more info.
At the moment I only have Wifi and no mobile internet.
I do use Miui-Au with my HTC Desire and this is working. So I think Miui-AU would be working with the Mi-One too?
Will the standard Miui Recovery be okay or do I have to flash LennoxRecovery first?
The MiRecovery is useless, you have to flash my recovery first. But if you boot into a non au rom it will reins tall mi recovery anyway.
So this is what I’m gonna do. Flash the LennoxRecovery from MiRecovery. After that I wil flash the latest Miui_au and that’s it?
My recovery has to be flashed from the updater in miui (doesn’t matter what build). And my rom has to be flashed from my recovery.
I changed the name of your recovery in update.zip but it doesn’t update from miui . What am I doing wrong?
You don’t need to re name it. In updater, press menu, choose the first option, browse to the file and flash it. Then re boot to recovery.
Installation wide out fine. Although I still don’t have 2g/3g internet connectivity
You still didn’t answer half my questions. What frequency does your network use and does the mi one support it? Have you tried asking over at miui nl if there’s some apn settings you need or something?
Sorry Lennox, at miui-nl nobody is answering,. I took a screencapture with some information. maybe you can take a look at it http://db.tt/J7xx2XLI
The Vodafone NL uses 900/1800, some people used the mi,one before and after updating it didn’t work. http://miuiandroid.com/community/threads/no-3g-on-vodafone-nl.16429/page-2
Hope you have enough information. Thanx again!
Can you please get me a logcat and post it on paste bin
Also, try modifying the following line in build.prop:
ro.ril.disable.power.collapse=0
To:
ro.ril.disable.power.collapse=1
And tell me if that changes anything. Lastly, could you post a screen shot of the apn settings for your.mobile Internet?. And does mms work?
Here’s my log: http://pastebin.com/bcdu7m7Y
I have changed the build.prop but nothing happened. Sms is working, MMS is not working.
These are my apn-settings:
http://db.tt/3qFNfTDF
http://db.tt/0LniJNFT
http://db.tt/rUuKzUBV
I found a possible fix but ill have to package it up for you tomorrow. Is the email your using to post here your real one? If so ill email something for you to test and see if it fixes it. Ill look for more possible fixes and see if there’s anything else we can try. Ill do my best to help get it working.
In short, it IS an apn issue, but not due to incorrect settings. We’ll get this working somehow
Can you try adding
ro.ril.avoid.pdp.overlap=1
Or also
ro.ril.avoid.pdp.overlap=0
And see if that changes anything?
One last test. In the apn settings, try changing the address from
live.vodafone.com
To
office.vodafone.nl
I hope something works.
Okay, I tried all of the steps you asked. It didn’t changed anything . So after that I changed everything back to the start
Lennox thank you very much for all you patience. My email is the one I use. Hope you can figure it out
The fix i was gonna email wont work so I’m not sure what to do now.
In short, its an issue with the ril and vodafone, two things i cant do much about. Does 3g work on the Gb.miui? If it does i may be able to trya couple of other things.
I haven’t tries the GB-miui, it was already preinstalled with 2.8.3. Is there a Miui-au GB voor the Mi-One?
Yep. Its also the only one that works alongside ICS
. Just flash from in the Updater app in MIUI_Au ICS version (as it doesn’t have aroma in the GB one and that way you can be sure it flashes to the other partition.)
Link here: http://www.mediafire.com/?555np1otw458lau
I’ll try to remember to add it to the main post as an extra for people who might be interested, once I add aroma installer with the options for which partition to flash etc. I only did it because everyone said it was impossible to dual boot ICS and GB (which it was at the time). Turns out you can, quite easily.
I tried to flash the gb but it didn’t work. I got a email from someone who it should work with the office. I don’t know the difference between both of them. I’m going to try to figure it out.
“I tried to flash the gb but it didn’t work. I got a email from someone who said it should work with the office. I don’t know the difference between both of them. I’m going to try to figure it out”
What I mean is he said it should work with the apn of Vodafone Office. I don’t know if there a differences between the apn’s of office.vodafone.com and live.vodafone.com
Lennox is there somewhere a ppp protocol. I found someone with the same problem. (Don’t know which phone except it’s Android) He had to change the PPP protocol username/password. It didn’t use the same as APN (probably it should look for that??). Hope you understand what Im saying
Yeah i know what your talking about, i found the same answer. But the files which are supposed to be edited aren’t even in the rom so I’m not sure where to look.
AH okay, well I’m still looking for answers but it looks like it’s hard to find. When I’ve found something you’ll here it. Thanks for all the good work and for your patience. I wil donate soon so you can keep up your good work
Thanks very much
Wish i could help more but its hard when i don’t have the problem myself. If i have a problem on my phone, i can always fix it as i can look at things directly. Logs and posts just don’t quite do the same. Thanks for understanding.
WOW WOW It’s working
:D:D
So here is what changed everything. I had a chat with Vodafone, they changed my account at Vodafone to a business account and now it’s working fine. I don’t know what’ the difference between a business-account and a customer-account. So now we are up and running
Thanks again for your support and hopefully I won’t need you anymore
Glad you got it sorted, and hope you enjoy miui-au.
For Friday ill be bringing back incremental updates. Even though people refuse to read and accept the fact that if they.modify anything on /system it will cause the update to fail (as with the official miui incremental updates, or indeed any manufacturer ota), it makes it easier for me to put the.patch.update out, and upload the.full Rom whenever. In testing, the 2.7.27 to 2.8.3 update was about 20Mb, the official one was 26, so it will save people time and bandwidth. Flash in LennoxRecovery and choose which system as with the full Rom, if the system doesn’t have the correct version installed to update from, it wont touch it.
Also the installer now gives you the option to wipe caches, data for system being updated or all data, plus option to boot into whichever system partition you want. Seems good enough to fully replace the stock recovery when combining LennoxRecovery and my installer. Ill add a link to the wipe and system re boot options at the start of the installer as well, so that if you need to switch system from recovery for some reason, you can do so without re flashing. Last option in there will be to remove the recovery install script from BOTH system partitions. So if you flash another rom whilst in LennoxRecovery, simply start the miui-au update, and choose the option, and then your recovery will be safe. There is literally no need for the MiRecovery anymore.
Just a suggestion: try tagging tagging the post titles with [Mi-One] and [One X] similar to XDA to prevent people to flash the wrong Rom.
The funny thing is ihave done that every week, and this is the rom people are trying to flash on thw wrong device :p
The title should explain it all. If people can’t read, then there ain’t much that can be done about it.
Of course you’re right, but perhaps some more hints would help. The one X Rom is just called miui_au and only the mi-one version is marked as such. Some big colored sentence like ‘This Rom is for One X only’ at the beginning of each post and above the download link might help. This would at least force to read that single sentence, I hope.
Just a suggestion again. If it helped, it would spare us the laughs
I do agree, one x should be.mentioned in the post title. But as you can see here, i doubt it’ll make a difference. Somehow mi-one != onex/s2 is too complicated.
I forgot to put it in the title last week, sorry.
Note that all other posts for the One X were marked.
I was talking about this week, but as i said, if people want to, they can miss anything, however obvious.
http://t.co/E1yRPG1y
Its official, mi-two release in 9 days
ah thanks
i was confused about that now i understand. is there a way to hide the icon layers/text?
Not at the moment. What do you mean by layers?
Its easy to add those options in when/if i have time.
i mean labels not layers sry^^
cool that whould be nice
No promises but it’ll be easy so if i have time it’ll be in the launcher settings on Friday.
awesome work with the recovery and all other stuff! keep up the great work
but i have a question:why isnt there the 3×3 icon layout?thanks in advance
It does. Try changing the font size
It was never meant to be an actual layout option (that could change though).

Hey lennox..
I have uploaded the latest log from my mobile.stil facing the same issue. Dialer crashes whenever i try to use it !
The install was clean and on system 2. No restore, not even sms restore was done. I have only downloaded my apps from market and phone maps for sygic. Titanium backup is not yet installed, so there iss no question of system being modified at all. Let me know of you need any more info. I will download an alternative Dialer and going to keep this rom going.
Awesome work with the recovery btw.
Ill pm you that stuff to test tomorrow. I must be doing something right if your still persevering cheers. Glad you like the recovery, i know when you said on xda the device needed a decent developer that was one of the things you wanted
Was delayed, will pm tonight. Are you comfortable using adb to push files? The error hasn’t changed but I’m still not getting it at all here.
i dont have a windows PC, but using linux mint at the moment. Should not be an issue to push files via adb. But i can also use a root file manager to copy files from card to system ?
I have also noticed that Reboot->HotBoot doesnt work. It takes forever to boot and stays at the MIUI-AU Boot logo screen only. Normal Reboot works without issues though.
It will be an issue because it involves framework stuff which can cause issues if you try to do it in root explorer. If you make sure adb is working, ill tell you how to do it in recovery.
Ill test hoot re boot later, but if it doesn’t work i might remove it as its a really bad idea and can cause issues anyway.
No problem then. I ll use adb itself. I think i have used adb earlier for moto atrix on windows pc. Is it anything diff for linux pc ? in that case, plz lemme know any specific version that is needed
Version shouldn’t matter. I’ve sent the pm, hope it makes sense. Reply in the pm, not here.
I have the same problems as krishna. I would also like to note that the settings “Language & Input” can not be opened. When I select this option, the phone goes to the desktop. It can be cured?
Without a logcat i cant help much. Language setting.gs show up fine for me.
I got to go to the settings “Language & Input”. Maybe after I did “Wipe Dalvik Cache”. In the settings I changed the option “Language” from Russian (the last rom language) into English. After that, I was able to enter in the dialer and SMS.
There remains one more small question – how in the keyboard add one more language in addition to English. In the “Keyboard settings” I have not found this opportunity.
Hmm so I’m guessing krishnas issue must also be tied to the language somehow. Interesting.
You cant add languages. Miui include no languages at all, i just add my keyboard mod which is English only (as with everything else nearly). I always try to keep the system as light as possible, and keyboard languages are a.big killer of system space. There’s plenty of better keyboards on the market that probably have Russian.
http://pastebin.com/VAu7xGbZ
This is my log that I made before change the language. There I launched dialer and SMS. Maybe will be useful.
Thanks, it’s useful in that it is the same error that Krishna was having.
@Krishna: Can you try changing the system language as dmitriy said? His logcat is giving the exact same error as what you’ve been getting, and if that has fixed it should hopefully work for you too. I never thought of that because there should only be English and Chinese options in there.
I might do as I used to on the Desire, and add the AOSP languages to framework-res. That might solve the weird DateFormat exception, and also will enable people to at least set their system locale to whatever they want (even though the rom will still be English/Chinese only for the majority of apps). Third party apps should then be able to detect the correct language you have selected.
Touch Doesn’t seems to be working in aroma installer not sure but am trying to do a fresh install with samsung Galaxy s2
Where have i mentioned anything about this being for the galaxy s2?
Me again. flashing LennoxRecovery via clockworkmod 5.8.3.1 on my OneX I get
assert failed: getprop(“produt.device”) ==”
mione_plus” ¦¦ getprop(ro.build.product”) == “mione_plus”
error in lennoxrecovery zip (status 7)
and some more..
can you help?
thanks
This has me speechless, really.
Me too…
Thanks!
